Wiki

Since there haven't been that many updates lately I might as well throw up something I've been tinkering with: a wiki. Feel free to sign up and start playing with it if you like.

There's not much up there at the moment, but so far there's an episode catalog and a few select character profiles.

Have fun!

Season 13

Sorry for the lack of updates. This site's on hiatus until I have the time & inclination to do any new stuff. There's a new Errors and Weird Stuff up in the Articles section to tide you guys over.

Season 13 starts airing on October 12.

The highlight of the season is the two-parter "The Great MacGrady", a Very Special Episode in which Mrs. McGrady is diagnosed with cancer.

From the WGBH Pressroom:

When Lakewood Elementary's beloved lunch lady Mrs. MacGrady is diagnosed with cancer, Arthur and
his friends all react differently to the news:Arthur and D.W. rush to her side with heaps of chicken soup and
stuffed animals, Muffy tries to pretend that nothing in her life has changed, and Francine is so upset she can't
even bring herself to visit Mrs. MacGrady. In this moving episode, both parents and kids learn how they can
come together to support Mrs. MacGrady and each other; and Lance Armstrong makes a special appearance
to show Francine and the Elwood City residents how they can take a stand, or ride a bike, for cancer survivors.
"The Great MacGrady" will air every day the week of Monday, October 19.

The other episodes not mentioned in the last update are:

Looking for Bonnie: Famous rock musician Dean Lomax visits Elwood City and calls on George's dad to fix his equally famous guitar, Bonnie. Legend says that Bonnie is magical, and Buster and George are convinced that just one strum will give them special powers. And, during one late-night sleepover, they sneak into George's dad's workshop to find out if it is true.
The Pride of Lakewood :To boost school pride, Arthur and his classmates form the Lakewood Pride Committee, which immediately and fervently adds members, distributes buttons and creates special chants. But Brain and Sue Ellen, feeling pressured, decide that they do not want to join, and are accused of not loving their school. Can they prove that they are proud of Lakewood Elementary even if they are not part of this new group?

The Secret Origin of Supernova:Arthur is dismayed when he learns that an energy drink endorsed by his favourite comic book character is full of sugar, and that it will not give him any special energy or magic powers at all! Are there any superheroes who are not just out to make money, or must Arthur create his own?
Kung Fool:Fern volunteers to help an elderly neighbour, Tony Wu, with his household chores, and then discovers his past life as a kung fu celebrity. Suddenly she imagines herself as his student, and she will soon be a kung fu master herself! But will Fern be disappointed to learn that dish cleaning and laundry folding are not really part of some special martial arts training? Or can she learn a valuable lesson in acceptance and friendship?

The Secret Guardians: When Arthur, Binky and Sue Ellen stumble upon a beautiful and private woodland oasis right by their homes, they vow to tell no-one and keep it as their secret spot. Before long, however, they start to find evidence of human habitation; have they discovered an ancient civilisation? Or has someone known about this special secret place all along?

There should be one more episode I don't have the info for. Also, the episode pairings might not be the same as how I've listed them-I'm just getting the descriptons where I can.

Some of these episodes have aired ahead of schedule on certain stations.

Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman guest stars in "Fernlets by Fern", which was already mentioned in the previous update.

In other news, the Arthur Character Search is over:

Connor Gordon, 11, of Savage Minn., is about to make
his television debut. As the grand prize winner of the ARTHUR/All Kids Can Character Search, Connor along
with his character, Lydia Fox, will be featured on the live-action segment of an ARTHUR episode Tuesday, June
30 on PBS KIDS GO! (check local listings). The segment features Connor, an aspiring artist, meeting
ARTHUR creator and author Marc Brown.

In February 2009, ARTHUR, the award-winning PBS KIDS GO! television series, and CVS Caremark All Kids
Can, a program dedicated to making life easier for kids with disabilities, invited children ages 6-12 to create anew friend for ARTHUR. The search was designed to educate children about the importance of inclusion andhow children of all abilities can play together. It also encouraged parents and children to think about what life is like for someone they know who has a disability.

Connor went right to the drawing board. Selected out of an overwhelming 8,500 entries, he won top honors for his character Lydia Fox:a 10-year old girl fox who uses a wheelchair and loves to draw and play basketball.
Producers of the ARTHUR show were so impressed that they already have plans to include Lydia in two additional
future episodes.

So, keep a lookout for this new character.

D.W.'s Furry Freak Out - D.W. finds a stray kitten and begs to keep it - after all, Arthur has his own dog! But the unbearably cute kitten soon turns out to be a lot more than D.W. can handle and wrecks havoc (and fur balls) all over her life. Maybe D.W. isn't quite ready for a pet after all?

Some neat stuff to look forward to.

-We finally get to see Chip!

-Mei Lin gets an episode!

-Brain and Fern are in an episode together!

Hopefully these eps wll come out on Itunes quickly so I can get some content up for them.. after I get around to finishing the first batch.

Oh, and although Season 13 is still a ways off, some episode descriptions have surfaced. (thanks bophenbean to from the Arthur Yahoo Group for the info)

Prunella Deegan and the Disappointing Ending - Finally, the final volume of the Henry Screever series, The Knights of the Bouillabaisse, is out. Prunella and Marina compete to see who can finish the book the fastest. But the two friends learn that speed-reading doesn't always pay off.
Prunella and the Haunted Locker - Prunella is assigned a new school locker, which is rumored to be haunted! She refuses to believe it… until mysterious and unexplained things start to happen. Will Prunella have seven years of bad luck (and bad grades) or can she get to the bottom of this mystery?

Fernlets by Fern - As part of her latest business venture, Muffy talks Fern into writing poems for a new line of greeting cards which becomes the hit of Elwood City. But booming business causes Fern to burn out. Can Fern and Muffy find a way to make writing fun again?
No Acting, Please - When Fern lands a role in the Elwood City community production of "It Began With a Whistle," she fears she's not talented enough to be a star actress. But Will Toffman teaches Fern how to have fun, be herself and truly shine.

The Brain Gets Hooked - Brain gets hooked on the latest tween reality show "Junior Island." When he starts to ignore his friends and his schoolwork, he knows he's got a problem. But what can he do to break the addiction?
Arthur's Number Nightmare - When Arthur and gang suspect that they're being ranked at school, they become obsessed with what the numbers mean. Is Arthur really smarter than Brain? And is Buster's lucky number eleven? The kids get a surprising lesson in numbers.

Paradise Lost - Baby Kate is growing up! She's started saying her first words. But strangely enough, the more words she learns, the less she seems to understand their dog, Pal. The two head off to the Children's Zoo in search of the Dolly Llama for an explanation, and to see if they can reverse the process. Along the way, they learn that growing up is inevitable and maybe it isn't so bad.
The Silent Treatment - George wonders if anyone would notice if he just disappeared. He vows not to speak until someone notices him. Of course his friends do notice and decide to cheer him up with a surprise party. The problem is, George has no idea how they feel about him because, in order not to ruin surprise, everyone tries to avoid him.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Tibble - The Tibble Twins set out on new business venture – selling their pre-school art masterpieces to earn enough money to buy the coveted Krummy Kreepy Kastle. As their business takes off, so does their own appreciation for their art. Is the Krummy Kreepy Kastle really worth giving up their masterpieces?
D.W. Swims with the Fishes - D.W. and James enter the pre-school swim meet and recruit their big siblings to coach them. All goes swimmingly until Arthur and Molly start taking their jobs a little too seriously. Who's this race about, anyway?

The Good, the Bad and the Binky - As Emily's new babysitter, Binky introduces his charge to the world of pro-wrestling and teaches her some fierce moves. But when Emily starts ruffling the feathers of other pre-schoolers on the playground, Binky worries he hasn't been the best role model. Can Binky restore Emily to her former, tea-party loving self?
MacFrensky - When Francine and Brain are locked in a stiff competition to win student of the month, Muffy talks Francine into "borrowing" Buster's toy and letting Brain take the blame for it. As the lies grow and the prize gets closer, however, Francine's guilt increases. Can she come clean and wash her hands of this dastardly deed?

Some interesting stuff here too.

-Looks like Kate and Mei Lin are actually aging, if slowly.

-Brain gets an ep! And he's fighting with Francine again! Yay!

-Man, remember when Fern was quiet? Maybe George is her Portrait of Dorian Gray--the more outgoing Fern gets, the more antisocial George gets.

-Prunella and Fern both get two back-to-back eps to themselves? Geez guys, give someone else a chance. Sue Ellen anyone?

-Is Arthur really smarter than Brain? N. O.    W. A. Y.
